​Here are your morning announcements for Tuesday May 16th, 2023. 

*The announcements posted today reflect those which were read this morning. Please be aware that changes could occur during the day (cancellations, etc.) and we might not be able to amend them.  

First Half- Yellow, Green, Black and White classrooms will report to cafeteria during the first half of lunch. The grade level groups from blue, purple, red and orange teams will report to target locations using the Courtenay Bay Doors   

Second Half- blue, purple, red and orange will report to cafeteria and grade level groups from Yellow, Green, Black and White will be in their assigned areas using the back doors near the gym. 

Target Locations: This week the grade 8 groups will report to the field, grade 6 groups will report to the gym and grade 7 groups will report to the courtyard. 

Rotation Flow Chart: Gym --> Courtyard --> Field --> Gym 

Our grade 6  classes will be eating in their homerooms during their designated eating time this weekStaff, please follow the duty rotation sent out. 

Just a reminder if you have forgotten or need lunch, we have free lunches served from the library every day. Please go to the library at the beginning of your eating time to pick up your lunch.  

School Dance: Our next school dance will be held on Thursday May 18th. Tickets must be purchased on Cash Less Schools by Wednesday at noon. Students will receive their bracelets Thursday during D and E block.  

Clubs & Activities: Only announce today and tomorrow’s clubs  

Monday 

  • Dungeons & Dragons Club: We will meet in Mr. Carpenter’s room 114. Don’t forget to bring your lunch. 

  • Animation club is today  

  • Band – Trumpets Today at lunch  

  • Gardening club today in room 312. New members welcome!  

  • Wednesday is International Day Against Homophobia. GSA will be selling Skittles at lunch on Wednesday for $2 per package.  

Tuesday 

  • GIRL TALK is in Room 335 today during the first half of lunch with Ms. Nickerson. This group is for Grade 8 girls who want to join a community of girls who support girls. 

  • Activities Club Room 237. Bring your lunch and stay for the hour. 

  • Culture Club: Cancelled this week because grade 6 students are eating in their classrooms. 

  • Sports Club: Today in Mr Walls’ Room 309 both halves of lunch. You must come at the start of lunch to be permitted to join. 

  • Band- Woodwinds, Baritone and Bass sectional 

  • Fitness Club – only second half of lunch today 

  • Garden club members, please remember to water your trays. 

  • Drama Club – could you please come to Mme. Creamer’s room at the start of lunch for a quick 5-minute meeting, thank you! 

  • Tomorrow is International Day Against Homophobia. Tomorrow at lunch, GSA will be selling Skittles for $2 per package. All money raised will go to support Bayside’s GSA.  

 

 

Wednesday 

  • 3D Print Club – In Mme Hickey’s roomUse your 3D design skills to cut and engrave using the glowforge machine. Bring your lunch and come check it out! 

  • Renaissance Team: will be meeting in room 130 (Mme. Ferrar’s room) during the second half of lunch today.  

  • Art Club Cancelled this week as grade 7’s are eating in their classrooms  

  • Choir –  practice  at lunch 

  • Band – Full Band Rehearsal after school 

  • Garden club members, please remember to water your trays. 

  • GSA Leaders – We will have a meeting in the Level-Up Room at lunch.  

  • Today is International Day Against Homophobia. GSA will be selling Skittles for $2 per package at lunch time.  

 

 

Thursday 

 

  • GSA – Unfortunately, GSA will be cancelled this week. We will meet again next Thursday! 

  • Band Percussion   

  • Woodworking Club

Friday 

  • (Friday, May 19th) If you are interested in being on the Grade 8 Moving Up Dance Decorating Committee, please meet today in Ms. Nickerson’s room, Room 335, during the first half of lunch. All grades and staff are welcome to attend. 

  • Drama Club: No Drama Club this week as the grade 6’s are eating in their homerooms. 

  • There will be a GSA Leaders’ meeting in the Level Up Room at lunch 

  • Tech Crew – meet in the music room at lunch 

  • The computer lab will be open  

  • Garden club members, please remember to water your trays. 

Additional Activity Notices:  

 

 Band, Choir and Tech Crew students who did not pick up your field trip permission slip on Friday, please see Ms. Lucy Today. 

BAYSIDE ATHLETICS: 

Cheerleading:  

Congratulations to the team who came first in their competition over the weekend, winning the title of provincial champions! 

Volleyball:  

JV Girls: Practice today, Tues., May 16 from 3-5pm. Playoffs start tomorrow, Wednesday against Forest Hills here at Bayside. If we win, we will go to the finals, Wednesday, May 24th. 

Varsity Girls: Playoffs start Wednesday as the team takes on MNS. Good luck girls! 

Varsity Boys’ Volleyball –   Congratulations for winning the best of 5 against Barnhill. Finals today at MNS. Good luck Broncos. 

 

Co-Ed Flag football: 

New practices scheduled, Thursday and Friday, May 25 & 26 from 5-7pm.  

The tournament is scheduled for May 28th at Emera Park (formerly Shamrock Park).  

 

Track & Field : 

Please sign up at the gym for the Track & Field team events. 400m runners meet at the gym Wednesday and 200m runners meet Thursday at 11:45am. Be ready to tryout. 

 

TALENT SHOW!  Do you have an entertaining talent? Do you sing, play an instrument, dance, do magic or comedy.  Ms. Lucy is organizing a talent show for early JuneAuditions will be held in a few weeks. Start planning and practicing now!!!  Let’s show everyone how talented Bayside Students are!!! 


MATH COMPETITION – Congratulations to all the students who participated in the math competition here at school yesterdayAll students will be receiving a certificate in the coming weeks, but we wanted to acknowledge the top 3 by grade levelWe will have a small prize for the winning students next week. 


 

UNBSJ Math Competition – The results have also arrived from last Friday’s UNBSJ math competitionCongratulations to Hoda Mohamed for placing 4th overall on the UNBSJ Campus for grade 8.

Tuesday: Guess Who?  Last week was Ms. McDermott, who was identified by Ms. Hare. This week’s staff member hails from Baie St-Anne, used to teach grade 1, and is going to the Shania Twain concert in Moncton next month. Who are they?
